COLLECTION AND USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION


The IRCWCC collects limited personal information about individuals, primarily when they apply to join the Club, but also when any person uses the Club’s website.  Please note that the IRCWCC DOES NOT KNOWINGLY COLLECT OR MAINTAIN INFORMATION ON THE SITE FROM THOSE UNDER 13, AND NO PART OF THE SITE IS INTENDED FOR USE BY THOSE UNDER 13.

 

1.  When You Join the IRCWCC

If you apply to join the IRCWCC the Club requires that you provide certain personal contact information such as your full name, mailing address, e-mail address, and phone number.  Your contact information will not be viewable on the site by members or others, and will not be released to non-members at any time.  If a member submits a request for contact information pertaining to another specific member, the Club Secretary or Treasurer may, but shall not be obligated to, provide the requested information.

 

2.  When You Visit the IRCWCC Site

Log Files

Like most websites using standard servers, the IRCWCC may use and maintain the information that it obtains from your browser on its server logs. This information can include Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet service provider ("ISP"), and other data.  This information may be used to analyze trends, administer the Site, track user movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.  This information may be matched with other personal information to resolve technical issues and support security for the members.

Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of data that is stored in a browser-related file on your computer's hard drive when you use the Site.  Cookies are uniquely assigned to your computer, and are read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you. The IRCWCC’s primary use of cookies is to improve your experience on this website. For example, storing a cookie on your computer allows you to login without typing the registered e-mail address or registration number and password.  Cookies are also used to deliver information and fresh content specific to your interests.  You have the ability to reject cookies by modifying your browser setting accordingly.  However, if you choose to reject cookies, you may not be able to access the Site. 


USE OF THE IRCWCC E-MAIL “LIST”

 

The IRCWCC site provides interested individuals with e-mail access to a “list server” on which messages may posted for reading by all persons who have subscribed to the same service.  The IRCWCC makes no attempt to screen or verify the identity of persons who subscribe to the list.  All persons subscribing to and using the list should be aware that certain personal information, such as their e-mail address and name, will be displayed publicly and may be viewed by all other persons who have access to the list.      

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


1. When You Register

During the process of registering on the Site, we may require that you provide us with certain personal contact information such as your name, maiden name (if applicable), mailing address, e-mail address, phone number, birth date, marital status, password, and an affiliation. Please keep in mind that although your personal contact information will not be viewable by other members, once you are registered, your name will be displayed on the Site and you will no longer be anonymous to us or to other individuals who access the Site.

Web Beacons

A web beacon (also known as a clear gif) is a tiny graphic with a unique identifier that is placed on a web page or within an email. It is similar in function to a cookie, and is used to collect a limited set of information, such as a cookie number, time and date of page view, and a description of the page on which the web beacon resides. Classmates and its third party advertisers may use web beacons to compile aggregate statistics about which advertisements and promotions users have seen and how users responded to them. This information helps us better manage content on the Site by informing us what content is effective. In addition, we may use web beacons in our promotional e-mail messages to count how many messages and which emails have been opened and acted upon. This use allows us to gauge the effectiveness of certain communications and our marketing campaigns. Classmates does associate web beacons to individual member personal information for internal purposes only, in an effort to understand our members individual preferences with our email products.

 

 

Information submitted to photo albums, message boards and chat rooms is displayed publicly, so please exercise care in deciding what information you wish to disclose. Information posted in private groups is viewable by those who are invited to participate by the owner of the group. Please note however, that although private these communications and postings are subject to the same disclosures as stated above in "When You Use the Message Center". To protect the privacy of our members, Classmates does not allow the public posting of personal contact information. We have the right, but not the obligation, to monitor any activity and content associated with the public and private forums and interactive areas on the Site. Please review our Terms of Service for our guidelines regarding your appropriate use of these areas.

 

Classmates only shares Your Information with others when we have your permission, or under the types of circumstances described in this Privacy Policy. In addition, we limit access to Your Information to only those employees who we believe reasonably need to come into contact with that information to provide products or services to you or to do their jobs.

 



We may disclose Your Information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to conform to applicable law, comply with a judicial proceeding, court order or legal process served on Classmates or the Site, protect and defend the rights or property of Classmates, or investigate, prevent or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, or violations of our Terms of Service
